Ballarat Beer Festival: 2016

For one weekend, Ballarat will be officailly known as Beerllarat!

Pull out your newly purchased diaries, turn to the 16th of January 2016 and get your pen poised – it’s going to be an important date. This particular Saturday, on what will hopefully deliver fabulous summer vibes, is the date of the Ballarat Beer Festival. Located at City Oval, in the city centre, the all-day beer event will play host to over 35 craft brewers from across Australia – descending to Ballarat for the one day event.

It’s not just beer lovers who are getting ‘pumped’ for the pending festivities, even the locals are getting on board in a big way. “Possibly the most exciting news this year is that we got approval from the City Council to rename Ballarat to Beerllarat for the weekend of the Festival,” Festival Director Ric Dexter said.

“Ballarat is home to two craft breweries, 3500 home brewers and the largest university course for brewing in the Southern Hemisphere. It has been the epicentre of Australian beer brewing for decades and we are proud to be a part of this vibrant and exciting town.”

All time classic Australian Rock Band You And I will be headlining the festival – playing a collection of old and new hits. They will be supported with the likes of Dallas Crane, soothing sounds from Kylie Auldist (lead singer of The BamBoos) and country vibes from The Rechords, The Bakersfield Glee Club and The New Savages.

Beer and Ballarat is the yin and yang – a beautiful love story of a destine union. It’s the fine eloquence of when a crisp beer meets the soft-cardboard coaster, where everything is just perfect. Beer was made for Ballarat and Ballarat is putting on my show to celebrate.

The beer is brewing and in 7 days or so the site will be set up. All that is left is your attendance.
