A Cabaret/Comedy, Bogan Bombshell is the tale of “Janeen from Clarinda”. Janeen is an A class bogan. She has a big heart, snazzy appearance and a straight shooter to everyone she meets. Not to mention a hidden talent to sing – but just don’t tell here that. From time to time bogans do get a bad rap, but don’t let your own preconceive bogan perceptions stand in the way of Janeen’s story. While this lovely woman comes from a suburb that many may not have heard of – seriously, where is Clarinda – the story of Bogan Bombshell is one for the bogan memories. Janeen puts the B in Bogan.
The hour performance takes the audience on a fun and hilarious journey of the bogan lifestyle. As Janeen finally finds the man of her dreams – in a very ‘bogan typical setting’ – she finds herself in a little trouble when he lands in jail. With bail set at $187, Janeen takes on the full responsibilities of raising the much need cash to be once again reunited. The hopeless romantic is armed with bright pink latex gloves and a special blend of disinfectant, she quickly gets on the case to rack up the cash – finding unusual avenues to drum up the cash while remaining an all-class bogan.
The performance of Susie McCann is witty and confident as she effortlessly maintains the ideal sweet spot of audience engagement. Her cheeky smile and bogan conduct is on point and makes her lovable; she will make you laugh and adore this damn right funny bogan from Clarinda. The performance is tight with a strong casual stage presence while the audience shares and assists in the experiences of Janeen tales. With heart-break, loss, love and plenty of LOLS in-between, Bogan Bombshell will tear you up inside with laughter. It will also leave you with a little nugget that we all have a little bit of bogans in ourselves.
Whether new to the bogan phenomena or a know-it-all bogan spotter, Janeen from Clarinda is one to watch during the months of November and December.
