N2 Extreme Gelato needs no introduction – with a massive following already in Sydney, this store has finally come to our food obsessed doorstep. The Fitzroy store has a cute-grunge feel to it, with its combination of highly decorative street-art murals combined with darling little astro-turf covered boxes that make you feel immediately at ease.
So, for those of you living under a rock, what makes extreme gelato so extreme? A Heston Blumenthol special – liquid nitrogen! The result is beautifully creamy, rich gelato that bursts with flavour that is made before your very own eyes. These ‘gelartists’ are artisans indeed, with crazy flavours such as French Earl Grey Infused Caramel (using T2 Early Grey tea), Happy Little Vegemite (vegemite & butter SAO crackers), Creme Brulee and Sour Chocolate just to name a few!
I personally couldn’t go passed the Creme Brulee and the flavour didn’t lie. With hints of vanilla bean and a caramalised glassy coating, it really was like having a creme brulee served cold!
N2 Extreme Gelato has been open for just under two weeks at time of this article being posted and changes its menu every Thursday.
