“An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools.” Ernest Hemingway
We all love a drink to celebrate a special (or not so special) occasion. It’s a way to socialise, bringing friends together and make new ones. Each person has their own poison, but can you say that a drink is named after you? Ernst Hemingway is a man larger than life in many aspects, but it was his time in Cuba where his drinking excursions are most prominent known. Suffice to say, Mr Hemingway would drink a cocktail everyday (without fail) which was later named– The Hemingway Daiquiri.
To celebrate this drink Nuffnang & New Gold Mountain put on a little show for various bloggers around Melbourne. We all learnt, made and tasted The Hemingway Daiquiri to get our creative writing juices going. Food was also kindly provided by Rice Paper Scissor.
50ml white Rum (Havana Club 3 year old Rum was used)
20ml Fresh Lime Juice
20ml Fresh Pink Grapefruit Juice
15ml Luxardo Maraschino Liqeur
Add ingredients to shaker with ice, shake and strian into a coupette garnish with a cherry.
Tip: Use the cheapest ingredients first to ensure that you don’t waste good liquor
