The popular HBO TV show Game of Thrones has taught us that too many powerful players will lead to blood and guts. While being extremely satisfying for our Monday night viewing, the same can’t be said for Melbourne’s fierce food scene. A known contender always has a strong brand that is synonymous with a product – think coffee and St Ali, souvlaki and Jimmy Grants and Asian fusion and Chin Chin. With one always trying to out-do the other and their imposing competition to lure taste buds; the latest chapter is quite unique – unity.
For the next six to nine months St Ali, Jimmy Grants and Kong have join together to create a pop up food precinct – Rue & Co.
With Kong set to open up at Richmond (formerly Pearl Cafe) soon, what perfect way to drum up a following than adding a bit of Kong to the CBD? The offerings include two different types of Korean chicken wings and steam buns to share and nibble; with larger meals consisting of different Bossam, Roti Rolls and Salads. While keeping to tradition, the food is well executed, wholesome and delightful.
Jimmy Grants knows how to do Souvlaki, and their latest installment is of no exception. Matched with some very yummy dim sums and chips, it’s the perfect Greek Street food to top off a hard day at work. There is also the options of trying various Greeks salads available.
Rue & Co is the latest food hot spot to hit the streets of Melbourne. With its casual dinning experience and late night trading, it’s the perfect location for catching up with friends, taking a food pit stop after Friday night drinks or to enjoy the impressive food offerings within this amazing space that will soon be long gone.
