Santa’s Christmas Spectacular

This festive season Santa has arranged for a little bit of North Pole magic to find its way to the foot of the Melbourne Eye!

The Melbourne Spiegeltent was our destination for this experience but, long before stepping into this mobile landmark, we were surrounded by the Wonderland Christmas fair atmosphere – think fairy floss, fresh popcorn, dodgem cars, a merry go round and balloon artists surrounded by entranced kiddies …

Entering the Wonderland Spiegeltent, more commonly the home of Melbourne burlesque, you are immediately enveloped within the surprisingly compatible Christmas circus atmosphere.  Walking through a forest of Christmas trees and greeted by elves and fairies we quickly came upon the magical stage setup, a classic ‘Santas workshop’ aesthetic.  The audience is seated close to the action on stage with plenty of room for children to sit right up front and feel part of the show.

The Christmas Spectacular show is carried by a charming troupe of elves and fairies with a brilliant routine of Christmas jokes, children’s slapstick and genuinely impressive and accomplished circus performances – juggling, acrobatics and amazing balance feats, often with a healthy dose of audience participation.  Each of these acts is smoothly dovetailed within the Christmas narrative by ringmaster elf ‘Shiny’, a high energy and versatile performer, no slouch with a hoola hoop or 10!  Should you step away for popcorn, be sure not to miss the Christmas Fairy act – this performer is clearly a gymnast and contortionist of the highest calibre.  Following circus shenanigans a very jolly Santa made his appearance, ready and willing for an extended ‘child on knee’ session!

The Wonderland Spiegeltent experience is sure to create captivating Christmas memories and cheer for Mums and Dads, Grandparents and Santa-loving children of all ages!
