Tucked away in what looks like a dodgy carpark in Southbank is Backlot Studios, a small and charming little private cinema, and the venue selected by Tyrrells to launch their famous British “crisps” on our shores.
While a small cinema and bar might at first seem like an odd choice of venue for a launch party for potato chips, it all began to make sense once we realised what had been prepared for us.
In keeping with Tyrrells cheeky and fun attitude they had had cobbled together a distinctly British night in for us lucky bloggers. We were treated to a tasting of the crisps (don’t dare call them “chips”!), fed some delicious canapes, and invited to wash it all down with some Stella Artois (or wine if that was your poison).
Once we were thoroughly full, we were pampered with a massage (including optional foot spa) and then invited to attend a screening of the “classic” British comedy Bridget Jones’ Diary in the fully furnished mini-cinema. And while I do dispute their use of the word “classic” to describe the film, it is a fun little romp and certainly suited Tyrrells cute and cosy night in.
All in all it was a lovely evening, the crisps were yum (I highly recommend trying the Sweet Chili and Red Pepper variety), the venue was bliss for a cinephile like myself and I left with relaxed shoulders and outrageously moisterised hands thanks to my massage.
